NADA – NADA has issued its comprehensive and updated Driven Guide, A Dealer Guide to the FTC Safeguards Rule, available to all NADA members at no cost and available for purchase for non-members. The Guide contains extensive guidance on compliance with the new requirements outlined in the new Gramm-Leach-Bliley (GLB) Safeguards Rule that contains a series of extensive and complicated new data security requirements that dealers must comply with by Dec. 9, 2022. In addition, it includes several appendices containing sample polices and links to governmental and other regulatory guidance on data security.

A Dealer Guide to The FTC Safeguards Rule discusses the Federal Trade Commission’s updated data and information security requirements for dealers contained in the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and the FTC’s Safeguards Rule.  It contains a detailed explanation of the Rule, the requirements that must be met, and provides a roadmap for achieving compliance.  It also contains extensive input from IT experts, as well as a series of appendices with sample programs and policies that dealers can use when drafting the required policies for their dealership.
