The Toyota RAV-4 apparently knocked the Ford F-150 from its best-selling U.S. vehicle pedestal last year, according to an industry analyst.

Based on Jato Dynamics data, more than 475,000 units of the SUV by the Japanese automaker sold in the U.S. last year, compared to about 461,000 of the F-150, which has long been America's best-selling pickup.

The Ford F-Series as a whole sold the most in the states at more than 765,000 units for the F-150, F-250, F-350 and F-450 combined. It was followed by the Chevrolet Silverado series, the RAV-4, Honda CR-V and Ram trucks.

But the RAV-4 surpassed all as the single vehicle selling the most units, according to Jato's data.

Ford told Forbes that that the F-Series individuals share a cab architecture and that it doesn’t break down its series sales by individual models.

How potential U.S. tariffs on imported vehicles might affect the sales rankings this year remains to be seen.
